Ayaka Terajima: Selected works, 2018-2019
Clay Stage, 2018
This work is my first performance work: walking around on a huge raw clay piece according to sound recorded on my 30 minutes every day route from home to the academy.
The huge object created in the performance was burned.
Doki series (the pot), 2019
As a person who has learned traditional crafts, I am interested in mass-produced ready-made products. Sometimes it’s a difficult feeling to be aware of a mixture of hatred and longing.
This series is decorated with plastic cases found in the daily life. I took my inspiration from the Japanese Jomon pottery (Doki).
The material used is recycled clay with a paper-like appearance, this eco-friendly process contrasts with environmentally harmful plastic packaging. The hand-assembled pieces are highlighted by contrasting the organic shape of the object with the angular shape of the plastic packaging.
