Patricia Sannit: The Songs That Are Yet to Come, 2019
The Songs that are yet to come is a video and sculpture installation. The video loop morphs images of colorful flowers and scenes of destruction and war. The thesis of my work has long been the cyclical nature of history and the resilience of human culture and hope. The pieces that form the body of the sculpture function as a screen for the videos. The pieces themselves are remnants and cast offs and discarded pieces from my own bodies of work. Their plain and abraded surfaces are made fresh and beautiful by the fields of colors that bathe the surfaces during the projection.
Fired ceramic, oxides, alumina hydrate, silicon carbide, glaze, 20 minute loop digital video, projector, 365 x 426 x 124 cm (dimensions variable).
