Ömür Tokgöz is a ceramic artist born in 1966, in Turkey. She graduated from the Faculty of Textile Engeneering, Ege University, in 1988, and also studied Sociology between 2014-2018. She worked as a textile engineer until 2003. That same year she started working with ceramics in Mehmet Tüzüm Kızılcan’s ceramic studio. She established her own studio in 2006, and has been making experimental studies in porcelain since then. Ömür Tokgöz is a member of the International Academy of Ceramics.

Porcelain has became the most proper material to express myself with its fragility, semi-transparency and whiteness.
In general, I like to make works which are simple, repetitive, unglazed, dominated by white and black. Transparency and fragility are important features in my works.
