The week’s news in the ceramic world
❤️ Join artists Jane Millar and Kim L Pace, with Tessa Peters acting as chair, for Clay in Conversation 2: Body, the second in a series of curated conversations curated by artist Julia Ellen Lancaster, presenting artists working with clay and ceramics. Each conversation centres on a specific theme – acting as a lens through which the artists will present a single piece of work or project. The conversations offer the opportunity to dig deeper into a single work, exploring it formally, materially and conceptually. The presentations will be followed by a Q&A session with the audience.
📌 Argillà Italia, a famous festival dedicated to ceramics took place this last weekend in Faenza. The event featured the works of over 200 ceramic artists along the streets of the historic city center, as well as numerous concurrent exhibitions, concerts, presentations, workshops and guided tours. After a four-year break, it’s wonderful to see such a large event dedicated to ceramics taking place. Make sure to read more about Argillà Italia 2022, check out their Facebook page, and explore the Instagram hashtag #argillaitalia, with hundreds of photos capturing the festival’s unique atmosphere.
👌 Fieldstation 2022 – a process exhibition and residency with open studios by and with S L A M and invited artists is taking place this week at Ifö Center Konsthall, in Bromölla, Sweden. ⚫ The ceramic art community is sad to learn about the passing of János Probsnter, the founder and director for almost the first 40 years, of the International Ceramics Studio in Kecskemét, Hungary. Under his leadership, the studio became known throughout the world as a catalyst for creativity – and served as an example for other international ceramic art centres. May his work always be remembered and cherished.
