Oleksandr Miroshnychenko: Heads, 2017-2022
I started making sculptures about 10 years ago. For me, the image of a person is most convenient for work. The person’s face is probably the most expressive part of the body. Anthropocentrism is inhabited by people’s thinking; we often put ourselves in the center of the world. I often try to do the contrary, in my work I mix a person with nature and fit it into the landscape. Clay as a material allows me to use its properties to express or emphasize internal conflicts. Of course, and first of all, I convey my feelings. These are those feelings that cannot be verbalized; for me, they exist only in the form of sculpture.
