Adjunct Lecturer – Ceramics at Benedictine University, Lisle, IL

The Department of Visual, Performing, and Media Arts at Benedictine University is seeking a qualified adjunct instructor to teach Ceramics courses during the Fall 2024 semester and beyond.
The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching in-person studio courses at our campus located in Lisle, IL. This is a part-time, adjunct position, and the appointment is for one semester at a time, with the possibility of renewal. Compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. The instructor should be passionate about teaching and be able to engage students in meaningful discussions and critical thinking about art and its context.

Required Qualifications:
• MFA or Master’s degree in Ceramics or a related field
• Teaching experience in the field of Ceramics preferred
• Teaching experience at the university level preferred
• Capable of teaching Ceramics courses (Additional opportunities to teach in other areas may be available depending on experience, such as Painting, Drawing, Art Therapy, Design Foundation)
• Knowledgeable in handling and maintaining Art/Ceramics related materials, chemicals, and equipment in a safe and responsible manner

Physical Requirements
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
• This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.
• Use of computer screen, phone and customer service.
• May require bending, or sitting for long periods of time. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
The following of campus specific guidelines for pandemic protocols is required. Training: As a University employee you are required to complete all University-specific and/or OSHA related training to fulfill your job duties. Specific training will be conducted online or in person. Employees must complete all trainings required by Benedictine University.
