Megumi Naitoh: Ceramation, 2022-2023
I am the artist behind the “Yellow Clay” production. Yellow Clay produces “ceramation” which is a stop-motion animation that specifically showcases ceramic-making processes and objects. Yellow Clay was born during the pandemic when Asian hate was on the rise. This made me reconsider my identity as a ceramic artist but most importantly an Asian American, and how I am placed in this complex history.
Invisible Structure, 2022 (video)
This is a story of the Asian American experience through my lens as an East Asian, and ceramicist. Yellow Clay tries to rectify the feeling of invisibility with a sense of humor and hope.
Searching for Blue, 2023 (video)
Yellow Clay goes on a search for Blue Clay to stand with Ukraine.
