Norma Grinberg: Fantastic Fauna – Tois, 2016-2020
Fantastic Fauna forms a mazy landscape that we perceive as if in flight. Its spatial organization composed of interlocking modular volumes pulses to the rhythm of the undulating surfaces and the rupture of the meeting of each piece.
This labyrinth in earthy tones and intense blues gains vibrancy through the interconnection of shaping elements and their shadows. It is home to strange animals that penetrate the space in all its dimensions and conceal something familiar in the artist’s universe.
Norma Grinberg revisits the primordial module that resembles a grain. Like a living form, it germinates while maintaining the characteristics of its core, recognizable everywhere, but changes when encountering new requests for formal organization.
The animals that occupy Norma’s labyrinth are multicolored beings with enigmatic features that provoke different sensations and moods – they are incredibly attractive and cause a certain strangeness. They are animals from other times, from a crawling life that hides in the dark waters of the imagination, that inhabit legends and the depths of our memory.
