The Department of Art is home to the farthest north BFA and MFA programs in the country. We serve a diverse student body and add to the ever-growing creative community in Alaska. The position of Assistant Professor of Art (Ceramics) includes many elements from teaching a variety of classes, and mentoring students throughout the program, to overseeing studio/lab facilities for a multitude of kiln firing processes.
To thrive in this role candidates must be able to work with a diverse student body, mentor students through the different degree programs, and work closely with other faculty in the Department of Art. They should also maintain a rigorous exhibition record as part of their creative activity and research.
We are looking for a candidate who is willing and able to collaborate across multiple disciplines. Candidates should have experience with a multitude of kilns.

Minimum Qualifications:
The Department of Art is seeking a candidate with an MFA, and at least 2 years of teaching experience. Candidates would lead the Ceramics program but may also teach a variety of 3-D media as needed by the department. The successful candidate would teach and mentor both undergraduate and graduate students in the BA, BFA, and MFA programs. Candidates should know a multitude of kiln techniques, and know how to diagnose and maintain them.
Position Details:
This position is located on the UA campus in Fairbanks, and flexible on-site work arrangements may be considered in accordance with UA regulations. This is a full-time, exempt faculty position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package.
